ONE DAY IMMERSION INTO THE JOY OF ASHTANGA YOGA
10:00-4:00pm

ASHTANGA INSIDE & OUT 10:00AM-12:30PM / 2:00-4:00PM $100

This class is an in-depth immersion and fun-filled exploration of the dynamic system of Ashtanga Yoga covering as much ground as is possible in one full day.

This immersion is arranged in 2 sessions, morning and afternoon. (This day long workshop will be followed by a Half Primary Series segment Friday evening).

In the morning there will be an overview of the First Series with David offering user-friendly alternatives to many of the more complex asanas as well as an array of options for the vinyasas. This will then be followed by a talk-through of the Full First Series with David leading every breath of the way. David is well known for his compassionate approach and encouraging presentation to all students.

There will then be a break for lunch

In the afternoon session David will give further details about individual asanas and answer questions the students may have about aspects of their own personal yogic journey or unique interests. There will be time spent partnering during an in-depth exploration of the realms of vinyasa. David refers to this as the Physics of Flight. It is a fun-filled section of the day and full of energy. Things will begin to wind down with a discussion about the wonder of breath and it’s applications in daily life as well as yoga. The day will end with David leading the group through some gentle and soothing pranayama techniques as well as a guided deep relaxation.

It is going to be a spectacular event. You are sure to go home with a smile on your face and a feeling of knowledge gained, laughter shared and new friends made!

Don’t Miss It!

David will offer plenty of alternatives for the vinyasas and asanas in order to make the class accessible to All Levels of practitioner. SO YOU THINK YOU CAN BALANCE?
A Fun-Filled Exploration of Not Falling Over
12:30PM-2:30PM
($60)

Whether standing on our feet, hands, head or any other body part balance can be one of the most challenging aspects of practice. David will share his personal insights and methods of finding balance in an unstable world. The class will contain partner work as well as individual pursuits of balance in an array of asanas. Interestingly there are many parallels between the techniques used for physically balancing in our body and also in finding balance in our life. David has an amazing ability to convey complex ideas in a simple, fun and practical way. Regardless of what system of yoga one does there is sure to be a wealth of knowledge gained from this class that can be applied on the mat and in life!

Falling Is Optional!

BREATH, BANDHAS AND PRANAYAMA
Seeking the Unseen and Experiencing the Intangible
3:00PM-5:00PM
($55)

Our first act of life as we enter this world is to inhale and our last act before departing is to exhale. Breath is our most elemental form of life and unites all of humanity yet we think little about it. The ancient yogis gave it great thought and in so doing developed intricate methods of harnessing breath to gain control of the mind and to see the world with greater clarity.

This class will delve into the realms of specialized Yogic Breathing as well as the subtle and highly misunderstood internal energy valves known as Bandhas. There is much confusion surrounding these mystical tools and the part they play in the regulation and control of pranic flow. David will share information he gained directly from K. Pattabhi Jois as well as a series of practical exercises he has developed himself to assist the practitioner in gaining a greater understanding of these subtle yet powerful energy gateways of yoga. David has an amazing ability to convey complex ideas in simple terms. All are sure to leave with new insights and useful tools for personal practice regardless of their system.

Come and Feel the Prana!

PERSONAL PRACTICE, BACKBENDING & INVERSIONS PLUS
YOGA IN OUR DAILY LIVES

9:00am -5:00pm

MYSORE CLASS….The tastiest way to practice for personal growth and enhanced
9:00AM-11:00AM
$50

Led classes are wonderful. We can unplug and wait for the teacher to tell us what to do next. This is soothing, nurturing and fulfilling. This approach however is like a chaperoned relationship with the yoga. The teacher always looking over our shoulder to remind us of every breath and movement. This is a blessed way to practice and is certainly valid! But within this approach we can run the risk of becoming dependent on the teachers’ guidance to the point that we do not have a sense of our own rhythm, timing and breath. In order to truly develop a deep and personal relationship with the yoga we need to wean our self away from the teachers’ words and seek the voice of Ashtanga as it arises through the sound of our own breath and the dancing flow of the sequence. The teacher is still present yet only to assist where absolutely necessary. To guide when needed and advise when required. Now the depths of practice spread’s her arms and welcomes us into the flow. This relationship once established is freedom! Now we stand on our own and walk hand in hand with the practice and the ancient wisdom gained from the direct connection. The greatest teachers instill strength, independence and confidence into their students. Mysore practice is a stepping-stone to the path of self-reliance.

INVERSIONS, BACKBENDS, and SITTING WITH YOUR BREATH
Finding Stability When the World is Turned Upside Down and Finding Your Breath
12:30PM-2:30PM
($60)

This class will turn your world upside/down in order to explore the dynamics of inverting the body through building a solid foundation from which to grow while also looking at the opposing forces at play in Inversions. Backbends will be redefined as front openings and sitting quietly will be explored as an active participation in self-exploration through developing a relationship with our lifelong companion, breath.

EIGHT LIMBS and DAILY LIFE / How the Practice Applies within Confines of Daily Living
3:00PM-5:00PM
($55)

Underlying the mysterious and complex philosophy of Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras there is a truly profound simplicity that may be applied within the context of our daily lives. This class will discuss the Eight Limbs of Ashtanga Yoga and explore their applications within our day-to-day life. What is the use of Philosophy without real application? We may memorize quotations or stanzas from great writings but unless we can apply them within our life they are merely words spoken rather than knowledge realized.
